The Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 ev is now a factory fitted tyre option for the new Porsche Macan. The compact SUV leaves the factory equipped with this particular Hankook tyre model in size 235/55R20Y XL on the front axle and 285/45R20Y XL on the rear. Both dimensions are identifiable as original equipment fitments tailored for the Macan’s power and torque thanks to the ‘NE0’ marking on the sidewall.
“Equipping the new, all-electric Porsche Macan – one of the highest-selling Porsche model series – with our premium tyres is another milestone in our successful partnership with the sports car manufacturer,” says Jongho Park, President of Hankook Tire Europe. “Our technologies are ready for the requirements of the next generation of sporty electric vehicles.”
Greater range with optimised rolling resistance
With the Ventus S1 evo 3 ev, Hankook is “supplying a tyre with exemplary all-round qualities for the Porsche Macan.” Specific characteristics include a tread compound that “transmits the above-average drive torque of the electric Porsche SUV to the road” while increasing the range thanks to optimised rolling resistance, as well as a tread pattern that “offers excellent grip on wet and dry road surfaces with a wide and stable centre tread block.” Hankook also points to the high abrasion resistance of the tyre’s tread compound, which it designed specifically to accommodate the acceleration of electric vehicles.
In addition, Hankook notes that the “carefully balanced tread design provides excellent acoustic comfort” by significantly further reducing the EV’s already low noise emissions. What’s more, it developed a tread pattern that minimises tyre noise may otherwise annoy passengers in the absence of engine noise.
The tyre’s casing is amply capable of accommodating the 2.4 tonne Macan and is aided in this task by high-performance fibres that offer high stability at a low weight relative to the size of the tyre. Hankook used aramid hybrid cord in the casing as this reduces tread pattern deformation, particularly at high speeds. This improves transverse stability in corners and when changing lanes.
