New Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tyres

Goodyear has launched the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 – the firm’s latest UHP tyre. Goodyear calls it “the ultimate all-rounder” and explains that the tyre uses new braking technology. This allows the tyre to offer 4 per cent shorter stopping distances compared to the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3.

All-season tyres have come of age in the past couple of years. Nevertheless, purists still view them as a jack of all trades. But is this always the case? German car magazine Auto Bild Allrad doesn’t think so – its current test of seven SUV tyres in size 235/55 R19 opines that all-season products are no longer a “lazy compromise”.

Quatrac Pro: Vredestein launches a UHP tyre for all seasons

Around ten per cent of UK motorists choose an all-season product when replacing their vehicle’s tyres, and this figure is increasing by almost 20 per cent a year at the moment. But one area of the all-season market still underrepresented is UHP tyres. Vredestein intends to change this with the launch of its Quatrac Pro.

Sportauto tyre test: Mostly competent, but unspectacular

Yesterday we reported the outcome of the Auto Motor und Sport summer 2019 tyre test and observed that while no tyre received the car magazine’s highest test rating, most gained its recommendation. It’s a different story at petrolhead partner title Sportauto – its test of eight tyres yielded a ‘highly recommended’ winner, but six others only received a tepid endorsement.
