Goodyear claims first all-season tyre with A in fuel efficiency

Goodyear will make a leap forward in all-season tyre performance later this year. The premium tyre brand has claimed a first by achieving an A rating on the tyre label in addition to the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) marking, which indicates that the tyre is certified for driving in winter conditions, such as snow or ice.

Several models of compact SUV are delivered from the factory on 215/50 R18 tyres, and German motoring magazine Gute Fahrt has chosen this size for its 2020 summer tyre test. It looked at eight premium and mid-range tyres, fitting these to a VW T-Roc for testing. The test team benchmarked the eight contenders against the T-Roc’s factory-fitted tyres.

Goodyear tyre supplier to all-electric Pure ETCR touring car series

motorsport calendar – the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand touring car championship. It’s called Pure ETCR, and it’ll be contested by vehicles equipped with a Williams Advanced Engineering battery unit and 500kW Magelec Propulsion powertrain. This will deliver the equivalent of a staggering 680bhp to the rear wheels, enabling 0 to 100km/h acceleration in just 3.2 seconds. This torquey power will reach the racetrack via products supplied by one of Pure ETCR’s founder partners – Goodyear.

Auto Bild 2020 summer tyre tests – the finalists

It’s a glaring omission from an illustrious who’s who of the tyre world – the Pirelli P Zero absent from the list of finalists for the Auto Bild summer 2020 tyre test. Its overall result in the initial knock-out round only sufficed for 25th place, a result Auto Bild called “disappointing”. But Pirelli isn’t leaving this stain on the P Zero’s reputation unanswered.
