World record for Formula E and Hankook tyres

Ahead of this weekend’s 2023 Hankook London E-Prix, British Formula E driver Jake Hughes set a new indoor land speed record in a modified Gen3 car. This ‘GenBeta’ prototype generates up to 400 KW and delivers it to the track via modified Hankook iON Race tyres. Hughes called upon this power to clock a new milestone of 135.9 mph (218.71 km/h) on a 346-metre indoor straight. Confirmation from an official Guinness World Records adjudicator ensures Formula E and Hankook will take their place in the famous book.

Hankook sponsoring Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance open day

Hankook Tyre UK is sponsoring the Open Day taking place on Friday 4 August to celebrate 20 years of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. Entry to the event at Chester House Estate in Northamptonshire is free and the Open Day will feature stalls, activities, music and entertainment as well as a chance to get better acquainted with the service’s helicopter, provided it isn’t called out on mission.

Bridgestone issues tyre checklist ahead of Great British Getaway

With the school holidays approaching and the Great British public preparing for a summer getaway, Bridgestone is making a tyre safety plea to anyone considering a UK staycation. The road safety experts are issuing some simple advice as thousands of caravans and camper vans and are expected to be seen again on roads, many of which may well have been inactive over the past few months. Bridgestone believes that vehicles such as caravans or trailer tents should be thoroughly inspected prior to re-use during a Great British Getaway, with a spike in usage expected in the coming weeks.

Do it myself? No thanks! European motorists are increasingly likely to rely on breakdown services to fit a spare tyre

Motorists’ relationship with their cars has become increasingly distant, with a new survey commissioned by Apollo Tyres showing the majority of European motorists would not attempt to deal with a tyre puncture at the roadside themselves. Just 46 per cent say they would use the car’s supplied spare tyre or inflation kit, compared to 32 per cent that say they would instead call on a vehicle breakdown service for assistance, and 16 per cent who would seek help from a family member, friend or colleague.
