New Vredestein Ultrac Pro performance car tyre coming in spring 2024

The Vredestein Ultrac Pro ultra-high performance summer car tyre will arrive in spring 2024. It is the Apollo Tyres premium brand's first new summer UHP tyre since the launch of the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti in 2012. Vredestein says the new tyre will offer advanced handling capabilities and superior driving comfort at an accessible price. The Vredestein Ultrac Pro will be available in a wide range of 18-24” sizes. These sizes will be compatible with sportscars, supercars and high-performance saloons, hatchbacks and SUVs.

Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 3 gets Nordic winter tyre test plaudits

The Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 3 non-studded winter tyre got two wins and two second-place finishes in four Nordic winter tyre tests. The tyre, made for Nordic conditions, won two Finnish tests from magazines Moottori and Tekniikan Maailma, and claimed second place in the tests conducted by Swedish magazines Vi Bilägare and Teknikens Värld. In the latter title, Goodyear’s studded UltraGrip Arctic 2 and non-studded UltraGrip Performance 3 were also crowned Best in Test in the studded and Middle European friction tyre categories.

Hundreds of drivers ‘Become a Road Safety Hero’ with Bridgestone

Bridgestone spread the tyre safety message to hundreds of motorists in October at two events. The tyre manufacturer conducted free tyre safety checks and distributed informational postcards at Roadchef’s Norton Canes Services on the M6 Toll in Staffordshire on 19 October, and at Ireland’s Japfest in Mondello Park, where it encouraged young drivers to get into the habit of checking their tyres regularly. The postcards were designed to emphasise the importance of checking tyres and highlight that each vehicle has only four contact patches with the road and they featured safety tips and maintenance advice for future reference.

TyreSafe supports Safe Street event at Morecambe FC, addressing alarming number of illegal tyres

TyreSafe supported Sophie Lyden from Westgate Tyres at the Safe Street event on 22 October. Held at the Morecambe FC ground, the event was the result of a collaboration between several road safety stakeholders. It was organised by FreshDriversUK and Racing4RoadSafety, with contributions from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (FRS), Lancashire Police, Lancashire County Council Road Safety Team, National Highways, tyre wholesaler Bond International, Westcotec and more, as well as local independent tyre retailer Westgate Tyres. All participants demonstrated their commitment to enhancing road safety within the community.

Falken launches Wildpeak R/T01 rugged terrain flagship 4×4 tyre

The Falken Wildpeak R/T01 rugged terrain tyre is coming. The brand's new flagship 4x4 tyre for demanding off-road applications means Falken now has a tyre for every off-road application. The R/T01 was "engineered with adventure in mind,” the company said. Its tread design and structure increase traction in the most difficult conditions. The new tread blends the key attributes of Falken’s existing All-Terrain (A/T) and Mud-Terrain (M/T) Wildpeak products. This helps the tyre achieve an optimised combination of traction, durability, and longevity for all-wheel drive vehicles in extreme applications. Falken says the tyre should benefit the construction, forestry, agricultural and expedition sectors, as well as off-road enthusiasts and those who like to travel off the beaten path.

Goodyear launches Wrangler Duratrac RT

Goodyear has launched the new Wrangler Duratec RT in Europe, continuing a global rollout that saw the tyre released in Australia earlier this year. The tyre is billed as the manufacturer’s premium 4x4 tyre, engineered for a 50/50 split between on and off-road applications. Launching the tyre in Europe, Goodyear tells the market the Wrangler Duratrac RT is offers a significant step forward in technology and performance compared to its predecessor, which was named the Wrangler Duratrac. Having made the tyre available in “many demanding global markets,” Goodyear adds that the tyre’s original run of European sizes will be joined by more in the fourth quarter of 2023, with dimensions for rim 15-19” rims, making a total of 15 sizes by the end of the year.
