Four all-season SUV tyres gain top Auto Bild test recommendation

The all-season tyre is one of the biggest successes of recent years, growing from almost nothing in the early 2000s to occupy a sizeable chunk of the UK tyre market. Today, the best of the bunch represent a viable alternative to standard summer tyres, particularly in the colder months. In its 2025 all-season test, Auto Bild allrad looks at 11 brands of SUV tyres, declaring four of these to be ‘exemplary’ – including one of the most affordable candidates.

11 good tyres in 225/40 R18 test

Netherlands-based motoring association the Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB) has compared 18 brands of summer tyre in size 225/40 R18. This is a dimension often seen on cars such as the Audi A3, BMW 1 and 2-series, Mercedes A and B-class, Seat Leon and Toyota Corolla, and it is also a standard size on the ANWB test team’s VW Golf VIII.

Continental tyres for Zeekr 001

Chinese car maker Zeekr has selected Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres as an original equipment fitment for the Zeekr 001. The electric saloon will leave the factory equipped with the Continental tyre in size 265/40 R22 106V XL FR. By choosing Continental, Zeekr joins a growing number of vehicle manufacturers within the region. The tyre maker tells us that in Asia-Pacific, nine of the ten highest-volume manufacturers of all-electric vehicles currently fit on Continental tyres as original equipment.

Test result reflects Kumho’s commitment to innovation throughout lifecycle

Kumho is very pleased with the ‘exemplary’ rating its Ecsta PS71 gained in the Auto Bild 2025 summer tyre test. It earned the motoring publication’s top rating when evaluated in size 225/40R18, finishing joint fourth from a total of 52 candidates. Auto Bild particularly praised the Ecsta PS71 for its outstanding performance in dry conditions and the best result in the wet.
