Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme provides on-/off-road option

It took a while to get here, having debuted in the USA back in 2021, but Hankook suggests it’s been worth the wait. The tyre maker tells us that its new – in our part of the world, anyway – Dynapro AT2 Xtreme is an all-season product that “combines reliable traction with driving comfort and durability, no matter the surface or season.”

According to Hankook, this evolved version of the Dynapro AT2 offers a “high-performance, all-terrain tread that has been specifically designed for versatile use on camper vans, classic off-road vehicles and construction site transporters.” Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme comes in a total of 15 sizes ranging from 15 to 17 inches, dimensions that cover the classic 4×4 segment. The Dynapro product family continues to include the Dynapro AT2 available in sizes up to 20 inches, providing an option for many off-road vehicles.

“With the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme, we are strengthening our position in the growing all-terrain segment by delivering a reliable, robust and comfortable solution for vehicles that switch between on-road and off-road use,” comments Jongho Park, President of Hankook Tire Europe.

About Dynapro AT2 Xtreme

The Dynapro AT2 Xtreme complements the Dynapro product family as an all-rounder positioned between the on-road-focused Dynapro HPX and the off-road Dynapro MT2. Hankook believes its newcomer “ticks all the boxes” of a modern off-road tyre with high suitability for everyday use through a combination of innovative tread design and advanced material mix.

The tyre’s distinctive shoulder design with deep side wall blocks protects it against cuts and damage during off-road use. At the same time, tread geometry with multi-directional sipes and grooves provides traction, even on snow. The presence of the mountain/snowflake symbol on the sidewall confirms the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme’s 3PMSF certification and suitability for use in challenging weather conditions.

Diving further into the tyre’s specific features, Hankook tells us that specially graduated block edges and additional tie-bars between the tread blocks reduce driving noise and stabilise the tread for a comfortable and safe journey. The newly developed tread compound benefits from functionalised polymers that ensure an optimum silica distribution as well as integrated particles that are resistant to deformation and temperature extremes for improved grip. The result is an even longer life compared to the tyre’s predecessor. Hankook says that thanks to this ‘Max Mileage’ technology, the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme achieves extremely high mileage.
