7 of the best all-season SUV tyres for 2025 – WhatTyre Tyre of the Year Awards

The leading all-season SUV tyres in 2025, as identified by the experienced editors of WhatTyre

With the SUV tyre market continuing to shift towards all-season solutions, a trend underscored by third-party research showing sustained growth in this segment, the need for rankings such ours grows within. And as Britain’s moderate climate demands tyres that can handle rain, frost, and occasional snow, all-season SUV tyres are becoming a mainstream choice rather than a niche product. To identify the best performers for 2025, we trawled our unique tyrepedia database, applying rigorous selection criteria to crown the top seven all-season SUV tyres.

Our evaluation process begins with the Tyrescore algorithm built into WhatTyre.com, a dynamic tool that analyzes European tyre label data, grading tyres on wet grip, fuel efficiency (via rolling resistance), and external pass-by noise. These letter grades are converted into numerical scores, with wet grip and fuel efficiency weighted more heavily due to their critical importance for SUV drivers navigating diverse conditions. Wet grip is particularly pertinent for all-season tyres while fuel efficiency addresses both cost and environmental concerns. External noise, though considered, takes a backseat, as cabin noise is often mitigated by vehicle design. But it’s not forgotten altogether because all-season and 4×4 tyres both have a historic reputation when it comes to noise – something has been challenged successfully over the last decade. Beyond label data, we cross-reference Tyrescores with thousands of European magazine tyre test results, which assess a broader spectrum of performance metrics. These tests, conducted by respected sources like Autobild Sportscars and Tyre Reviews, provide a comprehensive view of real-world performance.

Sustainability is a growing priority so we evaluate manufacturers’ Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) performance, aggregating third-party accreditation scores into a single rating which forms part of our algorithm.

Additionally, we award points for Original Equipment (OE) homologation, where tyres are approved by vehicle manufacturers for specific models, signalling quality and reliability. To ensure relevance, we focus on the top three SUV tyre sizes (235/60/18, 235/55/19, and 215/60/17. All tyres must carry the Three-Peaks-Mountain-Snowflake (3PMSF) certification for winter performance and have a load rating of 103 or higher to qualify.

Furthermore, each tyre must achieve a Tyrescore of at least 7. By way of testament to the increasing quality of both all-season and SUV tyres, we have raised the bar this year (2025). Last year finalists could be listed with a Tyrescore of 6. Our results are finalized by a panel of three independent journalists with 15–20 years of tyre industry experience.

The 2025 all-season SUV tyre category is fiercely competitive, with a new champion dethroning last year’s winner. Below, we explore the top seven tyres, comparing their performance to 2024 and highlighting what sets them apart.

Nokian takes pole position

  1. Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2 (235/60/18, 107 W, Tyrescore: 8.94)

The Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2 surged to the top spot in 2025, a remarkable ascent from its predecessor’s absence in the 2024 top seven (though its sibling, the Weatherproof SUV, ranked fifth). With an outstanding Tyrescore of 8.94, it excels in wet grip, earning an A-rating in the key 235/60/18 size, and delivers exceptional snow handling, as noted in Auto Bild Allrad’s 2025 tests, which called it “exemplary” for its balanced performance. Its improved rolling resistance enhances fuel efficiency, and Nokian’s strong ESG scores reflect its commitment to sustainability.

  1. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 (235/60/18, 107 W, Tyrescore: 8.27)

The Continental AllSeasonContact 2 climbs from third in 2024 to second place, with a Tyrescore of 8.27. Its optimized tread and construction reportedly deliver superior fuel efficiency and wet grip, earning praise from Autobild Sportscars (April 2025) for “dynamic handling and short braking distances.” While slightly quieter than some competitors, its balanced performance across wet, dry, and snow conditions, combined with Continental’s high ESG rating and OE approvals, makes it a clear choice.

  1. Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 (235/60/18, 103 T, Tyrescore: 8.11)

The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 secures third place with a Tyrescore of 8.11. Known for its 2024 victory in the general all-season category, this tyre brings its A-rated fuel efficiency to the SUV market. European tests commend its snow performance and value, with a competitive pounds-per-point ratio in the 235/60/18 size. Goodyear’s strong ESG credentials and OE homologations bolster its appeal, though it faces tougher competition in 2025 and beyond.

  1. Bridgestone Weather Control A005 (235/60/18, 107 V, Tyrescore: 8.08)

The Bridgestone Weather Control A005, second in 2024, is fourth this year with a Tyrescore of 8.08. Its A-rated wet grip and solid snow performance make it a reliable choice, though newer entries have edged it out. Bridgestone’s OE approvals and ESG scores keep it a finalist.

  1. Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750A (235/60/18, 107 W, Tyrescore: 7.93)

The Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750A, 2024’s value champion, maintains fifth place with a Tyrescore of 7.93. Its wide lateral grooves enhance wet grip, while a specialized bead filler ensures stable handling, as noted in UK tests that favour the rainier climes of the British Isles.

  1. Vredestein Quatrac Pro (235/60/18, 107 W, Tyrescore: 7.22)

The Vredestein Quatrac Pro stays sixth, with a Tyrescore of 7.22. For those towing or considering unusual applications, Autobild Reisemobil (May 2025) rated it as a solid contender not wasting any words when they rated it as “good”. Improvements in rolling resistance enhance fuel efficiency, and Vredestein’s ESG efforts add to its appeal.

  1. Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season (235/55/19, 105 V, Tyrescore: 7.03)

The Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season falls is seventh, with a Tyrescore of 7.03. Its A-rated wet grip and status as the quietest tyre on test (based on label data) make it ideal for drivers prioritizing low noise and high comfort. OE approvals for vehicles like the Range Rover Velar and Jaguar F-Pace SVR underscore its quality.

The all-season SUV category is highly competitive, and several tyres narrowly missed the top seven. The Yokohama CV 4S, continues to show promise but lacks sufficient third-party results for inclusion to make our stringent criteria. Other notable contenders include the Falken Euroall Season AS210, Firestone Multiseason 2, Cooper Discoverer All Season, Apollo Alnac 4G All Season, and CST Medallion All Season ACP1.

The 2025 rankings reflect significant shifts. The Michelin CrossClimate 2, the 2024 champion, is notably absent due to the introduction of its successor, the CrossClimate 3, which lacks sufficient test data in the top three sizes SUV for comparison. The Nokian Seasonproof 2’s rise to the top highlights its rapid improvement, surpassing the Weatherproof SUV’s fifth-place finish in 2024. Continental and Hankook maintain strong showings, while Goodyear’s entry into the SUV category and Bridgestone’s slight decline reflect the category’s evolving dynamics. Pirelli and Vredestein remain consistent, but newer models like the Seasonproof 2 have raised the bar.

The Nokian Seasonproof 2’s victory in 2025 underscores the rapid advancement of all-season SUV tyres, blending exceptional wet grip, snow performance, and fuel efficiency. The top seven tyres offer a range of strengths. As SUVs increasingly dominate UK roads, these tyres provide the versatility and safety drivers demand whatever the weather.
