215 Halfords Autocentres will collect your car for service and MOT – for £20

Halfords Autocentres will now collect and drop off your car for servicing and MOT bookings. The service is available within five miles of the 215 selected Autocentres – see full list below this article. Halfords is charging £19.99 for the service.

The autocentre chain explained that customers must book the service over the phone and ensure their vehicle is parked in a suitable location. It has also put social distancing measures into place. Motorists must hand over their keys while observing current national measures. Its technicians, meanwhile, will wear a new pair of disposable gloves for each job, as well as sanitising.

Before entering the vehicle, they will open the car doors and windows for five minutes for ventilation. They will then fit the car with a protective car care kit including a seat cover, floor mat, steering wheel cover, gear leaver and hand brake wrap. This ensures each job is carried out as safely as possible, Halfords says.

Technicians will do a damage inspection check on the vehicle on collection too.

The car will be returned to the customer at their home address after the service or MOT with a service.

Dave Scollard-Kerr, Halfords Autocentres central operations director, says the service gives “customers affected by the lockdown the flexibility and convenience they need in these challenging times. It means motorists can still have an MOT or service without having to leave their home.”
