Enso launched in 2021 with the aim of disrupting the tyre market by combining sustainable, energy-efficient, high-mileage anti-particulate, electric vehicle-orientated tyres with a direct-to-customer, tyres-as-a-service business model. Founded by entrepreneur Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, the brand has partnered with various van and taxi fleets, such as DPD, Royal Mail and London electric taxi supplier LEVC, while also gaining certifications such as its B-Corp status and collaborating on sustainability focused projects with other market disruptors like Uber. In 2023, Enso was a finalist in The Earthshot Prize, recognising its innovations in sustainability. Having signed distribution partnerships in the UK with In'N'Out Autocentres and M4 Tyres in 2023, the brand produced an AA rated EV car tyre range in 2025. While it is seeking to build its own production facilities, its tyres have previously been produced by Algeria's Iris Tyres, while its first Enso Premium electric car tyres are running off the production line at Linglong's advanced Serbia factory.
